legend

The No. 1 Gold Artists’ Collective was founded in 1997 as a loose conceptual art wing of Witness Tree, Literary Arts Education, Inc. Using “dilettante” “astonishment” “labor” as key words, No. 1 Gold is compelled to rethink the dissemination of language in the public sphere. No. 1 Gold public art projects have included the Gold Leaf Project, in which more than 10,000 poems were wrapped in gold foil and circulated around the 5 boroughs of NYC (1997), The Americas Project (This is Lost)—a mail art / imagination project (2000-2001) and multiple simultaneous daydreams (ongoing). No. 1 Gold has also been a generator of concept art parties and performances such as Chimerical (2000), Hyperbolic (2002) and RSVP (2006).
