These courses include:
International Black Women Writers, Reading Race, Literature of Black Education, Senior Seminar: Black Women and Performance; Senior Seminar: Black Form: Haiku, Sonnet, Blues; Senior Seminar: Audre Lorde & the Problem of Women’s Poetry, Poetics & Politics of Translation, Global Literature in English and Global Search for Justice: the Uses of Haiti. Collaboratively, I have worked with Dr. Jane Carroll to teach an interdisciplinary course on the History and Literature of African Slavery; and with Dr. Cecilia Konchar Farr to infuse an abroad American Writers in Paris course with more international black writing. These courses were all designed to investigate crucial issues of race, gender, region, aesthetics, reading and literary / cultural process. My teaching aims to synthesize and engage text and context, the critical and the creative, rigor and joy.
